About Prince William Humane Society
August 15, 2012 – A non-profit organization was organized with the express purpose of increasing adoptions and reducing euthanasia of the homeless pets located in Prince William County, VA. We felt that these goals could be accomplished by advocating for the homeless animals, promoting adoption programs, providing financial assistance when possible and elevating public awareness. Prince William Humane Society supports animal welfare organizations, including the Prince William County Animal Shelter, and works diligently to help them realize their possibilities and goal of becoming an Adoption Guaranty Facility by creating and implementing new programs designed to reduce the euthanasia rate and substantially increase the adoption rate. In recent years, Prince William County Animal Shelter has made substantial progress in improving both the living conditions at the facility and the care and treatment of adoptable pets in their care. However, it is our opinion that a new shelter is still greatly needed and necessary to assure that more adoptable animals find their forever homes and deserving lives. The Prince William Humane Society wishes to assist the Shelter accomplish these goals by functioning as their community partner, overseeing the fundraising and management of these various programs and creating a pet and people friendly Adoption Center to facilitate the over population at the Shelter. This Off-Site Adoption Center is designed to be a place that Prince William County and its citizens can come together and be proud of.
We envision a county in which all citizens regard companion animals as lifelong, valued family members and embrace their responsibility for the welfare of animals.
