Adoptions

Prince William Humane Society takes pride in helping make the perfect match
between you and your new furry family member.

Our Team is Dedicated To You.

We have a trained team of adoption counselors - both staff and volunteers. They meet with potential adopters to provide one-on-one counseling about your lifestyle and the personality characteristics, size and activity level of the pet you are interested in.

When we visit, we may ask about:

  • Your Work Schedule

  • Plans for Supervision

  • Leisure Preferences

  • Training

  • The Type of Home

  • Other Pets and/or Children in the Home

If other pets are involved, we request that you bring them to the Adopt Shop. This gives them the chance for a proper introduction, while determining compatibility.

What is involved with the Counseling Discussion?

The counseling discussion helps to ensure your pet is a good fit in terms of breed, size, behavior and compatibility. PWHS adoption counselors will also review a chart for approximate cost of care for the pet you are considering.
